I. Project Content and Scale

The total length of the coastline will be 684 meters and the total land area will be 54.72 hectares. The project will build two 200,000-ton general bulk cargo berths (the hydraulic structure is designed according to the berthing of 300,000-ton bulk cargo ships), with an annual berth capacity of 18 million tons. These berths will be constructed on the east side of the 200,000-ton ore terminal, which belongs to the port area mainly planned for iron ore loading and unloading.

The total investment of this project is estimated to be USD 438 million, and it is planned to attract foreign investment of USD 160 million.

III. Market Analysis

In recent years, the iron ore throughput of Port of Huanghua has increased rapidly. In particular, the steel enterprises in Hebei have gradually transported the ore from the surrounding Port of Tianjin and Port of Qingdao to Port of Huanghua, which has reduced the logistics cost throughout the transportation. At present, this trend remains. The iron ore transportation in Port of Huanghua has Lingang Economic and Technological Development Zone and central and southern Hebei as the direct hinterland, which extends to Cangzhou, Xingtai, Handan, Shijiazhuang, etc., and has the northern Shandong, northern Henan and central and southern Shanxi as the indirect hinterland.

The project expects a construction period of two years and an average annual profit of USD 13 million. After completion, the project will be engaged in bulk cargo loading, unloading, and storage businesses such as iron ore, bauxite, and nickel, belonging to the port industry.

V. Construction Conditions

The project has good construction conditions, as it will land on the eastern shoreline of the Bulk Cargo Port Area, where the built north breakwater and sand breakwater provide good cover for the berth in the port, the tidal current and wave dynamics in the port basin are weak, the siltation volume is relatively small, and the stratigraphic distribution in the project site is uniform, which makes the region suitable for a high-piled beam-slab structure.
